Elena Torlai Triglia is a Lecturer in Genetics, Genomics & Fundamental Cell Biology at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), serving as Theme Lead for Genomics of Disease and Ageing within the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences. She holds affiliations with the Centre for Molecular Cell Biology and the Centre for Evolutionary and Functional Genomics.
Education: PhD in Molecular Biology from Humboldt University of Berlin (2015), conducted in Ana Pombo’s lab at the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (Max Delbrück Center). Postdoctoral research at Broad Institute of MIT/Harvard and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute with Aviv Regev and Brad Bernstein (2015–2024). Joined QMUL in February 2024.
Research focuses on understanding how genetic and epigenetic alterations drive disease, particularly cancer. Key areas include gene regulation, single-cell genomics, cancer biology, and epigenetics. Her work bridges computational and experimental approaches to study cellular behavior in disease contexts.
Publications highlight contributions to tumor immunology (B-cell checkpoints), cancer genomics (melanoma models), chromatin architecture (3D genome organization), and SARS-CoV-2 entry mechanisms. Articles span Nature, Science, and Molecular Cell, reflecting interdisciplinary impact.
Laboratory: The EttlLab (ettlab.science) develops tools to analyze genomic and epigenomic data, focusing on disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.
