Ruchira Jha

Ruchira Jha, MD, MSc, is a Professor in the departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Translational Neuroscience at Barrow Neurological Institute. She serves as Division Chief of Neurocritical Care and Medical Director of the Neurointensive Care Unit. Her academic roles include editorial board membership at JAMA Neurology and section editor for Stroke.

Dr. Jha holds a medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed neurology residency and chief residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, followed by a neurocritical care fellowship through Harvard’s Partners Program.

Her research focuses on translational approaches to improve outcomes in traumatic brain injury (TBI), particularly targeting cerebral edema. She collaborates with consortia like TRACK TBI and GAIN, and her work has been supported by NIH and Department of Defense grants. Dr. Jha is board certified in neurology and neurocritical care, and a member of multiple professional societies including the American Academy of Neurology and Neurocritical Care Society.
