Rubina Raja

Rubina Raja serves as Professor of Classical Archaeology and Art and Centre Director of the Danish National Research Foundation's Centre of Excellence for Urban Network Evolutions (UrbNet) at Aarhus University's School of Culture and Society, Denmark. She has maintained continuous academic appointments at the university since 2005, progressing from postdoctoral fellow to her current chaired professorship.

Her research expertise encompasses classical archaeology with particular focus on Mediterranean urban networks, cultural heritage preservation, and field methodologies. Key research domains include:

• High Definition archaeology integrating classical archaeology with archaeological sciences
• Longue Durée perspectives on cultural developments from Hellenistic to Medieval periods
• Eastern Roman Empire studies with emphasis on Rome and Mediterranean contexts
• Iconography and archive studies related to illicit trafficking of cultural goods

Professor Raja has received numerous prestigious recognitions including Her Majesty Queen Margrethe's Rome Prize (2021) and the Danish Union of Academic's Research Prize (2019), reflecting her significant contributions to archaeological scholarship.
