Roy Sijbom

Roy Sijbom is an Associate Professor at the Department of Management and Organisation, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a PhD from the University of Groningen (2013) and previously served as Assistant Professor of Work and Organisational Psychology at the University of Amsterdam.

Education: PhD in HRM/OB from University of Groningen (2013), prior roles include Assistant Professor at University of Amsterdam. Research focuses on three core areas: 1) Learning motivation and leadership in dynamic workplaces, 2) Creativity and innovation adoption in organizations, and 3) Multilevel interventions to enhance employee well-being. His work emphasizes learning communities as vehicles for lifelong learning and explores leader behaviors influencing hybrid work arrangements.

Research Interests: Leadership dynamics, organizational learning ecosystems, employee creativity adoption, mental health interventions. Recent projects include EU-funded H-WORK (mental health in SMEs) and NWO grants studying learning communities in logistics (2019-2026) and SMART4L (2024-2028).

Awards include a €4M Horizon 2020 grant, €500k NWO grant for learning community research, and €20k NSvP grant for hybrid workplace studies.

Teaching includes courses like 'Empowering People for Societal Changes' and 'Perspectives on People, Management and Organizations.' Active in 28+ academic activities including presentations on hybrid work leadership and learning community dynamics.
