Associate Professor Timothy Colin Bednall is a faculty member in the Department of Management and Marketing within Swinburne University of Technology's School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship. A registered psychologist with an organizational psychology endorsement, he joined Swinburne in February 2014 after previously working at the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales. His industry experience includes roles with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and Chandler Macleod.
Dr. Bednall earned his PhD and MPsych (Organisational) from the University of New South Wales and his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Melbourne. He served as the national Chair of the APS College of Organisational Psychologists from 2015-2018 and currently serves on the Australian Psychological Society committee (2021-2024).
His research focuses on employee learning, expertise development, and innovation, with specific interests in leadership, human resource management, and knowledge sharing dynamics. His work examines how organizational structures and leadership approaches impact employee attitudes, particularly during times of change such as the recent pandemic. Dr. Bednall has made significant contributions to understanding power dynamics in knowledge sharing and the application of advanced statistical methods in organizational research.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong trajectory in methodological innovation, particularly in statistical approaches like Monte Carlo simulations, alongside continued exploration of leadership dynamics across cultural contexts and during crisis situations.
