Professor Roy Brown is an Honorary Professor at the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences, Bangor University. He holds a DSci in Ecology of Emerging Tick-Borne Diseases and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) and Chartered Biologist (CBiol). His career includes roles as Visiting Professor at the University of Lincoln (2010–2022) and Visiting Professor at Birkbeck College, University of London (2000–2007).
Education: DSci from University of London (1996), PhD from University College London (1973), MSc in Conservation (Distinction, 1969), and BA in Geography (1st class, 1968).
Research focuses on tick-borne diseases, bracken management, and ecological conservation. Key interests include Lyme disease epidemiology, vector-host interactions, and sustainable land management. His work bridges ecology, public health, and agricultural practices.
Publications span bracken control strategies, tick ecology, and wildlife tracking methodologies. Recent work includes the Bracken Control Group Briefings (2024) and a three-year FiPL study on Exmoor (2024).
