Kathleen LoGiudice is a Research Professor in the Biology Department at Union College. She specializes in disease ecology and wildlife conservation, focusing on tick-borne diseases and small mammal community dynamics. Her research integrates ecological and conservation approaches to understand zoonotic pathogens and biodiversity impacts.
Education: B.S., Boston College; M.S. and Ph.D., Rutgers University. She teaches courses in Heredity, Evolution and Ecology (BIO 103), Vertebrate Natural History (BIO 319), Ecology (BIO 320), and Senior Seminar (BIO 487). Her work bridges field ecology, molecular methods, and conservation policy.
Research interests include Lyme disease epidemiology, Allegheny woodrat conservation, and the ecological role of biodiversity in disease dynamics. She collaborates on projects linking habitat restoration to pathogen risk reduction and undergraduate research networks in ecological sciences.
Publications emphasize tick-host interactions, microbial co-infections, and the economic benefits of conservation. Media engagement includes discussions on interdisciplinary Lyme disease research and Union College's academic contributions.
