Dr. Caroline Millins is an Affiliate Researcher at the University of Glasgow's School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine. She is affiliated with the Veterinary Medicine Department and can be contacted at Caroline.Millins@glasgow.ac.uk. Her research focuses on zoonotic diseases, tick-borne pathogens, and the ecological and public health impacts of parasites. Her work integrates veterinary medicine, epidemiology, and conservation biology to address challenges in livestock health, wildlife disease dynamics, and human-animal interface risks.
Key research themes include the epidemiology of Lyme disease, the role of invasive species (e.g., grey squirrels) in pathogen transmission, and the effects of landscape management on tick populations. She has contributed to studies on rumen fluke infections in livestock, antibiotic resistance in dogs, and the emergence of pathogens in novel environments like treeless Scottish islands.
Her collaborative projects span multiple disciplines, including wildlife forensics and veterinary clinical diagnostics. She has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter on invasive species and zoonotic pathogens.
