She completed her PhD in 2020 through creative practice, focusing on a prosimetric reconstruction of female narratives in Irish mythology. Her work emphasizes creative practice-led research as a methodology to reinterpret traditional stories, particularly exploring the feminine experience in mythological frameworks. Bodsworth advocates for the scholarly value of creative writing as a research tool, challenging conventional academic paradigms.
Her research interests include defamiliarizing traditional Irish myths, gendered hero archetypes, and structural techniques that foreground feminine perspectives. She has published in journals such as Mythlore and Prophecy, Fate and Memory in the Early Medieval Celtic World, and her poetry appears in The Incompleteness Book II, Lockdown Poetry, and others under the pen name 'Therese.' Her second verse novel, Unforgiven, was released in 2024.
Bodsworth’s work has been recognized with awards including the 2024 Breathe Prize, Cerae ECR Essay Prize, and multiple commendations in poetry competitions. Her recent studies focus on accessibility for rural poets during and after the pandemic, as well as reimagining Yeats’ poetry through a feminist lens.
