Roxanne Moore is a Senior Research Engineer and Principal Research Engineer at the Georgia Institute of Technology, affiliated with the G.W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC). Her research focuses on systems engineering, design theory, and artificial intelligence applied to education, policy, and industry with a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion. She holds a Ph.D. (2012) and M.S. (2009) in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a B.S. (2007) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Moore has led multiple grants from NSF and Amazon, developing STEM outreach programs impacting over 100,000 K-12 students. Her work includes the InVenture Prize and EarSketch initiatives, which blend invention, entrepreneurship, and music to engage underrepresented groups. She was awarded the Georgia Tech Teaching Effectiveness Award (2018) for her educational contributions.
Her research explores complex systems modeling for education and engineering design, with recent publications addressing biologically inspired design, AI integration in K-12 settings, and curriculum scalability. She emphasizes equity in STEM through authentic learning experiences and feedback loop analysis in classroom dynamics.
Key grants and programs include NSF funding for STEM-ID curricula and Amazon’s "Your Voice is Power" initiative. Her labs and collaborations focus on translating research into scalable educational tools and fostering innovation through interdisciplinary approaches.
