Roxane Petit-Rasselle is an Associate Professor of French in the Department of Languages and Cultures at West Chester University. She holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University, an M.A. from the University of Delaware, and degrees from Université Jean Moulin in Lyon, France. Her research focuses on 19th-century French literature, particularly the works of Alexandre Dumas, mythological influences in literature, and popular culture. She teaches French language courses, Francophone civilization, and graduate-level literature seminars.
Dr. Petit-Rasselle directs West Chester’s study abroad program in Lyon and co-directs the winter program in the European Union. Her scholarly contributions include edited volumes on literary myths, book chapters analyzing Dumas’s portrayal of identity and otherness, and articles exploring narrative strategies in classic French texts. She has presented at international conferences, organized colloquia on 19th-century French studies, and reviewed works for prominent journals like The French Review.
Her academic interests extend to interdisciplinary pedagogy, puppet theater (Guignol), and the intersection of literature with history and cultural memory. She actively participates in professional associations such as the American Association of Teachers of French and the Société des Dix-Neuviémistes.
