معرفی
Ross Hill is Professor of Environmental Remote Sensing at Bournemouth University's Department of Life & Environmental Sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Wales and a first-class BA in Geography from Oxford. With over 25 years' experience, Hill previously worked at NERC's Centre for Ecology and Hydrology before joining Bournemouth in 2007.
His research applies remote sensing (LiDAR, hyperspectral) to quantify forest structure, species composition, and habitat quality. Current projects examine primate habitat use in Sumatran rainforests, woodland bird conservation in Britain, and gap dynamics in Amazonian forests. Hill's work connects 3D forest structure to biodiversity indicators.
Recent publications demonstrate advanced LiDAR applications for biomass estimation, microclimate modeling, and primate conservation. His NASA-collaborated work contributes to global ecosystem monitoring through the GEDI mission.
Hill teaches geoinformatics including GIS and environmental remote sensing. He currently supervises PhD candidates researching osprey dispersal patterns, savannah chimpanzee landscapes, and urban sustainability in Ghana.
