Ross Davenport

Dr Ross Davenport serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Blizard Institute within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London and as a Consultant Trauma and Vascular Surgeon at the Royal London Major Trauma Centre, Bart's Health NHS Trust. His dual clinical-academic role focuses on advancing trauma care through research in coagulopathy and hemorrhage management.

Dr Davenport's research centers on trauma-induced coagulopathy (ATC), acute inflammatory responses, and genomic mechanisms in major trauma. He pioneered the ACIT (Activation of Coagulation & Inflammation in Trauma) platform study for biobanking trauma patients, enabling investigation of white cell and genomic responses to injury. Current work includes fibrinolysis characterization in ATC and leading the national CRYOSTAT-2 trial evaluating cryoprecipitate for trauma hemorrhage, directly translating bench findings to clinical protocols.

As an academic supervisor, he mentors PhD students in ATC research and directs fellowship/elective programs for trauma sciences. His leadership in the CRYOSTAT-2 trial represents significant grant-funded research to optimize blood product use in trauma.

He operates within the Centre for Neuroscience, Surgery and Trauma at the Blizard Institute and collaborates internationally through the International Trauma Research Network across European institutions.
