Ross Boyce is an Assistant Professor of Medicine & Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with appointments in the School of Medicine and the Gillings School of Global Public Health. He also holds a Visiting Associate Professor position at Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda.
His educational background includes:
- Bachelor's in Chemistry from Davidson College (Magna Cum Laude)
- MD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- M.Sc. in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
Dr. Boyce's research focuses on the epidemiology and control of vector-borne diseases, particularly malaria and dengue, in both the United States and international settings such as Uganda. His work emphasizes spatial and clinical epidemiology in rural, underserved communities, aiming to develop evidence-based interventions for resource-limited settings.
He leads the Vector-Borne Disease Epidemiology, Ecology, and Response (VEER) Hub, a multi-disciplinary collaboration addressing tick- and mosquito-borne diseases in North Carolina, with partners including North Carolina State University, the CDC, and the NC Division of Public Health. His current research is supported by grants from the NIH, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Thrasher Research Fund.
