Ross A. Poché is an Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics. His research focuses on regenerative medicine, particularly retinal regeneration and mitochondrial energetics, using mouse developmental genetics and live fluorescent microscopy.
- Education:
- BS from The University of New Orleans (2001)
- PhD from Baylor College of Medicine (2007)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (2012)
Dr. Poché investigates transcriptional and epigenetic programs in retinal progenitor cell proliferation and craniofacial birth defects. His lab has developed mouse models for human syndromes and live imaging techniques to study retinal development. Recent publications highlight his work on Müller glia reprogramming, mitochondrial dynamics, and transcription factor networks.
Grants:
- Ronin (Thap11) in Neural Crest Cell Development (NIH/NIDCR, 2019-2024)
- Hippo Pathway Regulation of Retinal Regeneration (NIH/NEI, 2019-2023)
- Transcriptional Regulation of Retinal Mitochondrial Function (NIH/NEI, 2014-2020)
- Reawakening Regenerative Potential in Müller Glia (Bright Focus Foundation, 2018-2021)
Lab Alumni: Former members include Dr. Annita Achilleos (Assistant Professor, University of Nicosia Medical School) and Dr. Elda Rueda (Assistant Professor, University of Houston – Downtown).
