Dr. Rosie Ramsden is a Montague Burton Research & Teaching Fellow in Jewish Studies at the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies within the University of Leeds. She actively participates in the school's Centre for Jewish Studies and specializes in Holocaust testimony analysis through queer and feminist theoretical frameworks.
- Education: PhD in History (Northumbria University), MA English Literature (University of Leeds), BA English Language & Literature (University of Leeds)
Her research focuses on women’s gendered representations of the Holocaust, prioritizing unspoken experiences in testimonies often excluded by traditional narratives. By applying feminist ecocritical theory, she analyzes memoirs ‘against the grain’ of conventional Holocaust discourses. Current projects include a monograph titled Rereading Women’s Holocaust Testimonies Against the Grain: Gendered Narratives, Representation and Identity and an article about queer relationships in survivor testimony.
Ramsden’s work bridges Holocaust studies with queer and gender theory, emphasizing marginalized perspectives. She is affiliated with the British Association for Holocaust Studies and Women's History Network.
