Rosie Harper is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at Bournemouth University, appointed in 2025, and a specialist pelvic health physiotherapist who previously worked part-time at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust during her doctoral studies. She is an active member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and affiliate member of the Pelvic Obstetric Gynaecology Physiotherapy (POGP) group.
Her educational background includes:
- BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy, Cardiff University (2016)
- PhD candidate funded by NIHR ARC Wessex (awarded 2021)
Harper's research focuses on multimethod approaches to women's health challenges, particularly pelvic floor muscle training adherence through digital health interventions and behaviour change strategies. She investigates how digital 'nudges', mobile applications, and social media campaigns can improve engagement with pelvic floor rehabilitation for antenatal and postpartum women, addressing long-term conditions through innovative health psychology frameworks.
Her publication portfolio reveals a concentrated trend in developing patient-centered digital solutions for women's health, with 5 of 7 recent works (2021-2024) examining mobile app adherence, social media engagement, and clinical trial methodologies for pelvic floor rehabilitation. These studies consistently bridge clinical physiotherapy practice with digital innovation, emphasizing patient involvement and humorous approaches to reduce stigma.
Harper received recognition through:
- Doctoral College Outstanding Contribution Award (2023) for founding Bournemouth University's inaugural Women’s Health Conference
As a clinical academic, she teaches applied anatomy/physiology, communication/professionalism, and physiotherapy innovations while securing grant funding through her NIHR ARC Wessex match-funded PhD. Her work actively supports students, clinicians, and researchers in women's health through conference organization and multimethod research leadership.
