Roshan Bastani

Roshan Bastani is a Professor of Health Policy and Management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, where she directs the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity and co-directs the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research. Within the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, she leads Disparities and Community Engagement initiatives and co-directs the Cancer Control and Survivorship program. She previously served as Associate Dean for Research for 11 years at the School of Public Health.

Research Focus:
Dr. Bastani specializes in health equity intervention research with a socio-ecological approach. Her work spans cancer screening (HPV, colorectal, breast, liver), hepatitis B testing, tobacco control, melanoma prevention, and obesity control. She emphasizes system-directed implementation trials and community partnerships to address disparities among low-income, underinsured, and ethnic minority populations.

Her publications demonstrate expertise in pragmatic clinical trials, comparative effectiveness research, and utilization of electronic health records. Key focus areas include HPV vaccine uptake, colorectal cancer screening, and hepatitis B testing in safety-net healthcare systems, with methodological strengths in qualitative and quantitative research design.
