Rosemary Wilson is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Queen’s University, with a joint appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. She holds clinical roles as a Nurse Practitioner at Hotel Dieu Hospital’s interdisciplinary chronic pain clinic and within the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Her research focuses on patient safeguarding through pluralist methodologies, addressing the theory-practice gap in nursing. Key areas include acute/chronic pain care, technology in nursing practice, and interprofessional collaboration.
Wilson earned her PhD in Nursing Science from the University of Toronto, followed by advanced nursing degrees from Dalhousie University and Lakehead University. Her cross-appointments include Associate Director of Graduate Programs in the School of Nursing and roles at the KGH Research Institute.
Her research interests span sensory systems and pain, health equity, health information systems, and electronic health innovations. Notable projects include quality improvement in Rwanda’s healthcare and virtual self-management programs for chronic pain patients. She supervises graduate students in pain care, advanced practice nursing, and technology integration.
Wilson’s teaching emphasizes critical thinking in nursing practice, covering research methods, chronic disease management, and theoretical perspectives. She has designed evidence-based educational workshops using simulation technology for nursing students.
