Rosemary Sands serves as the Director of the Center for Norbertine Studies at St. Norbert College since May 2018. Previously, she held roles as Assistant Director of the Center (2015–2018), Director of Study Abroad (2002–2015), and adjunct/visiting instructor in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures (Spanish and Italian). She joined St. Norbert College in 1993.
Education: B.A. and M.A. from University of Wisconsin-Madison; M.A. and D.M.L. (Doctor of Modern Languages) from Middlebury College. Her doctoral research focused on the history of the Norbertine Order in 19th-century Spain, culminating in her dissertation La desamortización eclesiástica de Juan Álvarez Mendizábal: su impacto sobre la Orden Premonstratense en la España del siglo XIX.
Research interests include Norbertine Order history, monastic studies, and Spanish religious history. She maintains the Center’s extensive Spanish Norbertine collection, pursues publications in English, and teaches an undergraduate course titled Communio and the Norbertines.
