Bradford Ellis is an Associate Professor of Modern Languages and Literatures at St. Norbert College, where he has taught since 2002. His expertise lies in early modern Spanish literature, culture, and society, with a focus on Christian-Muslim dynamics and literary representations.
His research explores Old Christian-Morisco relationships in the Spanish picaresque novel, as well as the works of Miguel de Cervantes and María de Zayas. Recent projects examine Christian/Muslim hybridity in María de Zayas’s La esclava de su amante and representations of Morisco women in Alonso Jerónimo de Salas Barbadillo’s La hija de Celestina.
Professor Ellis is a lifetime member of the Cervantes Society of America and previously served as Managing Director of GEMELA (Grupo de Estudios sobre la Mujer en España y Las Américas, pre-1800) from 2007 to 2022. He regularly presents at international conferences, including institutions like Georgetown University and Cambridge University.
