Dr. Rosemary Peters-Hill is an Associate Professor at the Louisiana State University (LSU) College of Humanities & Social Sciences, Department of French Studies. Her research focuses on the 19th-century French novel, colonial/postcolonial studies, and North African history, with secondary expertise in the 16th century. She is a former Core Fulbright Scholar and holds the Albert and Angelle Arnaud Professorship in French Heritage.

Her scholarly work bridges detective fiction, criminology, and imperial cultural memory, including a critical edition of Charles de Foucauld’s Reconnaissance au Maroc. Current projects include a trade publication on Foucaud’s inter-religious dialogue and a book analyzing France’s imperial memory construction from 1769–2021.
Recent publications examine themes such as postcolonial adaptation, Christian-Muslim relations, and gender in French naturalism. Her scientific awards include multiple Fulbright grants and LSU faculty honors. She actively serves on LSU’s Faculty Senate and promotes foreign language film through co-organizing conferences.
Community engagement includes refugee language tutoring, choir participation, and music education advocacy. She lives in Baton Rouge with her family and five chickens, practicing analog photography and piano.
