Kylie Sago is an Assistant Professor of French in the Department of European Studies at San Diego State University (SDSU), within the College of Arts & Letters. She specializes in pre-19th century French-speaking world literatures, cultures, and histories. Her research focuses on literature and empire, particularly the French Atlantic, and racial formation through literary adaptation. She holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures from Harvard University and has held roles including Digital Collections Fellow in French Studies at Widener Library and Pensionnaire étrangère at the Ecole normale supérieure (Ulm).
Education:

Her work explores colonial and postcolonial themes, with publications in Nineteenth-Century Contexts and Encounters in the Arts, Literature, and Philosophy. She co-edited Revisioning French Culture and is completing a book on literary adaptation and racial formation. Recent research involved two years in France.
She previously advised undergraduates at Harvard and volunteers with Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Her current projects include her book manuscript and teaching on colonial literature.
