RoseLee Goldberg is a Distinguished Artist in Residence at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, specializing in the Art and Art Professions department. She holds a degree from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London.
Her research focuses on contemporary performance art, with key publications including Performance Now: Live Art for the Twenty-First Century (2018), Performance Art: From Futurism to the Present (2011), and foundational texts like Performance: Live Art Since 1960 (1998). Goldberg has curated landmark exhibitions at institutions such as The Kitchen, MoMA, and the Guggenheim, showcasing pioneers like Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, and Cindy Sherman.
In 2004, she founded PERFORMA, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing 21st-century visual art performance. Her work bridges curatorial practice, art history, and critical writing, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to live art.
