Rose Wimbish-Tompkins

Dr. Rose Wimbish-Tompkins is an Assistant Professor in Nursing-Undergrad at The University of Texas at Arlington. Her research focuses on developing culturally sensitive interventions for substance use prevention among Native American populations. She leads NIH-funded projects investigating virtual Talking Circle interventions and community-based prevention strategies.

Her research examines:

• Social determinants of mental health in Native communities
• Cultural adaptation of evidence-based interventions
• Sustainable prevention models for substance abuse
• Technology-mediated health education

Dr. Wimbish-Tompkins has secured significant federal funding including NIH/NIDA and NIH/NCCIH grants to support her community-engaged research.
