Rose Boyko is a Lecturer in Crop and Soils at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), with a joint role in the MSc Soil and Sustainability programme at the University of Edinburgh. Her expertise spans soil health, nutrient cycling, and blue-green economy innovations for agriculture and forestry. She contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate soil science education at SRUC.
Education: PhD in Plant and Soil Sciences (University of Aberdeen, 2022), MSc Food Security (University of Edinburgh, 2018), BSc Sustainable Food and Farming (University of Massachusetts, 2013).
Research focuses on soil management in golf systems for carbon storage, circular blue economy applications, and sustainable soil practices. Active projects include 'Towards a circular blue economy' (2023–2026) and 'Healthy Soils for a Green Recovery' (2022–2027). Her work addresses liming methodologies, marine biomass utilization, and soil health indicators.
Notable outputs include peer-reviewed articles on soil liming in temperate climates and commissioned reports on sustainable soil management. She has presented at workshops like the River Wye Phosphate Workshop (2023).
