Professor Klaus Glenk leads the Sustainable Ecosystems Team at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC). He holds a Professorship in Rural Economy, Environment, and Society. His research focuses on micro-analysis of consumer and household decisions, with over 20 years' experience in appraising environmental policy interventions, including climate change mitigation in agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and water management. He has led or co-led numerous projects funded by NERC, EU programs, and government bodies like the Scottish Government and DEFRA.

- Research Fellow at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany (2003–2007)
- Environmental Economist roles at SAC and MLURI, Aberdeen (2007–2012)
- Teaching:
- MSc Ecological Economics courses at the University of Edinburgh since 2010
- Environmental Valuation, Applications in Ecological Economics, and Project Appraisal modules
Research Interests: Valuation of ecosystem services/natural capital, cost-benefit analysis of environmental policies, technology adoption in farming, food choice behaviors, and sustainable practices of farmers/consumers. His work bridges economic valuation with policy design, emphasizing real-world applicability.

Supervision: Currently guiding 3 PhD students, with 2 graduates; supervised over 30 MSc students. Active in hosting academic visitors and delivering invited talks on agricultural policy and environmental valuation.
Labs/Teams: Leads SRUC’s Sustainable Ecosystems Team, collaborating internationally on wetland restoration, peatland economics, and nitrogen management in South Asia. Engages with ClimateXChange and DEFRA on policy-relevant research.
