Rose Amazan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at UNSW Sydney, specializing in social justice in education and international development policy with an emphasis on gender equity. She holds a PhD in International and Comparative Education, an MS in Education, and a BA in Mathematics & Secondary Education.
Her research focuses on culturally nourishing schooling, Aboriginal education reform, and global educational equity. Notable projects include the 'Yes, I Can' adult literacy campaign and the Culturally Nourishing Schooling initiative, supported by grants such as the Lowitja Institute Project Grants and NSW Department of Education Strategic Research Fund.
Rose has received prestigious awards including the ARC Kathleen Fitzpatrick Laureate Fellowship and travel grants from the Australia Africa Universities Network. She has also been recognized for teaching excellence, including the Teacher of the Year Award (2005) and a nomination for the Women in Leadership Excellence in Teaching Award (2011).
