معرفی
Rosalind J. Beiler serves as Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Central Florida, where she has held significant leadership roles including Department Chair (2007-2011), Graduate Program Director (2001-2005), and Public History Program Director (2007-2014). Her scholarship bridges historical research with digital innovation, currently leading the NHPRC-funded PRINT project to visualize early modern migration networks through 2700 transnational letters.
Education:
- Ph.D. in History, University of Pennsylvania (1994)
Beiler's research centers on migration dynamics in the early modern Atlantic world, with particular expertise in German-speaking religious minorities and transatlantic communication networks. Her seminal work examines how cultural brokers like Caspar Wistar facilitated immigrant adaptation, while her current PRINT project pioneers digital methodologies to map correspondence networks across four countries and three languages. This research reveals how information flow shaped mobility patterns and community formation among persecuted religious groups.
Her publication record demonstrates consistent engagement with Atlantic migration themes, evolving from economic analyses of German immigration to sophisticated digital network studies. Recent work reframes historical violence through marginalized perspectives, as seen in her 2023 Hochstetler Massacre reinterpretation, while maintaining focus on religious communication infrastructure as migration catalysts.

Beiler has secured over $1.2 million in research funding, including major NHPRC and NEH grants. She currently co-edits Early American Studies journal and serves as Finance Committee Co-Chair for the National Council on Public History. Her PRINT project team collaborates with archives across Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States to develop open-access digital tools for migration history research.
She directs the PRINT migration research collective, which integrates historians, archivists, and digital humanists to create the PRINT Portal—a crowdsourced platform analyzing 2700 historical letters to model information networks that enabled religious minority migration between 1660-1760.
