Sasha Wells is a Research Fellow in the Department of History at Florida International University. She holds an M.A. in Latin American History from the University of Florida and a B.A. in History from Oral Roberts University. Her research examines Black social networks among free and enslaved individuals in early colonial New Providence, The Bahamas. She serves as DOHGSA Vice President (2024-25) and her broader interests include gender and sexuality, digital methods, race and ethnicity, slavery, and migration/immigration. She is advised by Dr. Jenna Gibbs and Dr. Kirsten E. Wood.
Education:

Research Interests: Sasha's work focuses on the social networks of Black communities in the early colonial Bahamas, particularly exploring how free and enslaved individuals maintained connections. Her interdisciplinary approach incorporates digital methods to analyze themes of gender, race, slavery, and migration. These studies contribute to broader discussions on identity and resistance in Atlantic World histories.
