Rosalee A. Clawson is a Professor of Political Science at Purdue University's College of Liberal Arts. She holds affiliate faculty status in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS). Her research focuses on American politics, public opinion dynamics, mass media influence, and equity in technology (particularly electric vehicles). Dr. Clawson participates in the ASPIRE NSF ERC's Systems of Systems and Pathways Research Teams, addressing sustainability challenges. She co-founded the journal Politics, Groups, and Identities.
Clawson earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from Ohio State University and a B.A. cum laude from DePauw University. Her work bridges theoretical political science with applied research on race, class, gender, and media representation. Notable contributions include analyzing media framing of poverty, housing inequality, and sexual harassment in academia. She has advised undergraduate research initiatives and contributed to policy discussions on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
