Rosa Lange is a Researcher in the Department of History at the European University Institute, having joined the institution in 2024 as part of the current academic cohort.
Her research focuses on intellectual history with particular emphasis on anticolonial movements and political thought in Africa. Her doctoral thesis titled Revisiting Anticolonial Worldmaking: Kwame Nkrumah and the Politics of the Masses examines the political philosophy and mass mobilization strategies of Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first president and a key Pan-Africanist figure. Dr. Lange actively participates in the Intellectual History Working Group, contributing to scholarly discussions on historical political thought and its contemporary relevance.
She is supervised by Professor Corinna Unger with Nicolas Guilhot serving as second reader. As a German national working within the European academic context, her research bridges historical analysis with contemporary political concerns, offering critical insights into the intellectual foundations of anticolonial movements and their implications for understanding modern political dynamics in post-colonial societies.
