Ronnie Morgan is an Instructional Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism at the University of Mississippi and serves as Director of the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association (MSPA). He also leads the Integrated Marketing Communication Association, a national high school media organization, and holds roles on multiple executive/advisory boards, including the Journalism Education Association and the Scholastic Media division of the Association for Educators of Journalism and Mass Communication. Morgan is a member of the School of Journalism and New Media’s executive committee and oversees the Talbert Fellows honors cohort. He has been elected to the University of Mississippi Faculty Senate since 2021.

Research Interests: Morgan focuses on scholastic journalism, sports media, and the cultural and historical dynamics of the American South. His work bridges K-12 education leadership and media practices, emphasizing mentorship and professional development for student journalists. He is also engaged in exploring civil rights movements and folklore through his upcoming book project on the early 1960s.

His career includes 16 years as a sports journalist for The Associated Press, contributing to outlets like Sporting News magazine and Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal. He currently works on a book blending civil rights history and Southern folklore.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Talbert Fellows honors cohort and manages the Mississippi Scholastic Press Association and the Integrated Marketing Communication Association.
