Prof. Dr. Ronette Gehring is a Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Population Health Sciences and the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS). She holds expertise in Veterinary Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, and Computational Modelling. Her research focuses on predictive veterinary pharmacology, leveraging mathematical models to understand interspecies differences in drug responses, thereby reducing animal experimentation and improving treatment strategies.
Educated at the University of Pretoria (DVM, 1996; MMedVet, 2000), she has held academic roles at North Carolina State University (Research Assistant Professor, 2001–2006) and Kansas State University (2006–2017). She joined Utrecht University in 2017. Her work emphasizes data science and life sciences, particularly planetary health and science for life applications. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology and the European College of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology.
Her research integrates computational modelling and biostatistics to address pharmacological challenges across species. She teaches Veterinary Pharmacotherapy and Pharmacy, emphasizing evidence-based practice. Her publications (over 100 peer-reviewed articles) focus on feed additives, drug safety, and predictive pharmacology.
