Professor Jenn's research focuses on the intersection of translation and ideology, particularly examining Franco-American literary exchanges during the 19th century. His work prominently features analysis of Mark Twain (1835-1910), including detailed studies of Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc (1895-96). His research methodology incorporates pseudo-translation as a key analytical framework for understanding cultural transmission between France and the United States.
Professor Jenn actively contributes to his field through organizational leadership, having coordinated the Cross-Border Seminar of the Doctoral School on Translation and Dialogue of Cultures. He has organized significant academic events including a study day on Translating and editing the American 19th century today in collaboration with Bruno Monfort and an international symposium on related topics. His practical translation work includes collaborative translation of Nathaniel Hawthorne's works, demonstrating his commitment to both theoretical and applied aspects of translation studies.
His research on Mark Twain's relationship with France, particularly examining American perspectives through French reception, represents an important contribution to transnational literary studies.
