Ronald Caldwell is a Lecturer IV in the Department of Economics at the University of Michigan, part of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington (2007), along with an M.S. in Pharmacy and M.A. in Economics from the same institution. His research focuses on labor economics, public finance, and pharmaceutical economics, with notable work on vaccination policy in China and the impact of affirmative action on educational gaps. He has been recognized for teaching excellence through multiple Golden Apple nominations and a Byron Shutz Award finalist designation.
Dr. Caldwell’s academic service includes roles such as Undergraduate Advisor, member of the Undergraduate Program Committee, and faculty evaluator for graduate student instructors. He has presented research at major conferences including the Southern Economic Association and Population Association of America, and has served as a journal referee for Applied Economics and Economics Bulletin. His career includes prior positions as Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas and various teaching roles since 2003.
