Ronald Amundson holds the Betty and Isaac Barshad Endowed Chair in Soil Science at UC Berkeley's Department of Environmental Science, Policy, & Management. His research examines human impacts on soils and ecosystems during the Anthropocene, focusing on isotope biogeochemistry and climate-life interactions.
He authored 'An Introduction to the Biogeochemistry of Soils' (Cambridge University Press, 2021), presenting a 21st-century perspective on soil processes. His work explores soil's role in societally relevant issues including biota-soil feedbacks and extraterrestrial soils.
