Romy Jaster researches and teaches at the Institute of Philosophy at Humboldt University of Berlin, where she has been responsible for the 'Philosophy & Public' research area since 2023. She is part of the leadership team and currently serves as spokesperson for the DFG priority program 'Rethinking Disinformation' (Re:DIS) and co-leader of the 'Public Sphere' subproject in the BMBF joint project 'Iconoclasm: Making Women in Philosophy Visible and Establishing New Role Models.'
Her research focuses primarily on the epistemology of disinformation and on capabilities and their limitations. As a public philosopher, she concentrates on disinformation, public discourse, and the culture of debate, particularly in digital environments. She is a founding and editorial member of the public philosophy platform PhilPublica and advises the Science Media Center on the public relevance of current philosophical research.
Her recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on disinformation, fake news, and epistemic capabilities, with work spanning theoretical philosophy, political implications of misinformation, and practical approaches to improving public discourse. Her research shows increasing engagement with digital communication phenomena and their philosophical implications.

Romy Jaster serves as a BA advisor at the Institute of Philosophy and is a member of the Commission for the Investigation of Allegations of Scientific Misconduct (KWF). She previously served as Managing Director of the Society for Analytic Philosophy (GAP) from 2019-2022, during which she organized the GAP.11 conference 'Philosophy and the Public Sphere.' She co-founded and directs the Forum for Culture of Debate and is involved in multiple research projects examining disinformation and public discourse.
