Roland Tusch

Roland Tusch is a Researcher at the Institute of Landscape Architecture within the Department of Landscape, Water and Infrastructure at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). He has led numerous research projects since 2008, focusing on railway infrastructure, cultural landscapes, and heritage conservation, particularly along the UNESCO World Heritage Semmering Railway. His work bridges landscape architecture with historical preservation and urban planning.

• Education: Doctorate at Vienna University of Technology (2005), Architecture studies at Vienna University of Technology (1993-1999).

Theses Supervision: Advised 17 master’s theses on topics like Vienna Highline, industrial landscapes, railway infrastructure, and urban climate resilience.

Community Services: Active in ICOMOS Austria, TICCIH Austria, and expert panels for railway heritage and public space design.
