Roland J. Thorpe, Jr., PhD, MS is a Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at Johns Hopkins University, affiliated with the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. He holds joint appointments in the School of Medicine and multiple centers including the Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health, Center for Health Disparities Solutions, and Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center for Minority Aging Research. His work focuses on minority aging, men’s health, and health disparities across the life course.

Research interests include health disparities, race, socioeconomic status (SES), poverty, functional decline, mobility limitations, hypertension, and environmental justice. Current projects investigate environmental exposures linked to cognitive decline in Black men, neighborhood disadvantage and opioid use disparities, income inequality’s impact on health outcomes, and police department racial composition’s influence on violence.
