Rokhshid Ghaziani is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture and Interiors at the School of Architecture, Art and Design, University of Portsmouth, where she has been teaching since 2022. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and actively contributes to architectural education and research. Previously, she taught at De Montfort University and several other UK institutions including Coventry University, Birmingham City University, Nottingham Trent University, Sheffield Hallam University, and the University of Sheffield.

Her research focuses on biophilic design, school environments, and the relationship between nature and children’s health and wellbeing. She explores participatory design with children and youth, aiming to create educational spaces that foster emotional resilience, environmental awareness, and learning performance. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to sustainable cities, quality education, and good health.
Her recent publications emphasize biophilic interventions in primary and secondary schools, including living walls, moss panels, and nature-integrated classrooms. These studies highlight the positive impacts of nature on mental health, air quality, and student engagement. She has led and collaborated on multiple research projects assessing nature-based design solutions in educational settings.
She has been recognized with two awards: the Best Conference Poster (2014) and the Best Knowledge Transfer Research Award (2021). These honors reflect her impactful dissemination of research and practical applications in architecture and education.
Rokhshid Ghaziani supervises several PhD candidates working on topics such as biophilic office design, post-pandemic school resilience, sustainable smart cities in the Gulf, and art psychotherapy in museums. She has secured research grants for projects on indoor nature integration and has contributed as a guest editor for journals like Frontiers in Education. Her external roles include serving as an External Examiner for PhD and Masters programs at the University of Huddersfield and Université Laval.
She is actively involved in research networks and has participated in numerous conferences and workshops, including the Biophilia Summit 2024 and the Biophilic Design Conference 2024. Her work has been featured in media outlets and referenced in policy discussions, demonstrating its real-world relevance.
