Lindy Osborne Burton

Lindy Osborne Burton is an Associate Professor of Architecture at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and a Visiting Associate Professor at Taylor's University (Kuala Lumpur). Her academic roles include teaching in QUT's Master of Architecture program and leading research in architectural pedagogy, health architecture, and sustainable development. She holds a PhD from QUT and a Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture from the University of Natal.

Her research focuses on biophilic architecture, salutogenic design, and inclusive pedagogical practices. She has pioneered initiatives like the 'Radically Inclusive Studio' and contributed to frameworks integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into architectural education. Her work emphasizes health-centric design, such as post-pandemic hospital emergency departments and aged care facilities.

Dr. Burton is actively involved in professional organizations including the International Union of Architects (UIA), the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA), and the Board of Architects of Queensland. She has received accolades such as the 2012 Australian Citation for Teaching Excellence and multiple QUT Teaching Awards.

Her publications span over 90 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and conference papers, with a focus on architectural education, healthcare design, and transdisciplinary collaboration. She leads projects like the Integrated Design Studio (IDS) and has advised numerous doctoral students on topics ranging from adaptive healthcare spaces to design pedagogy.

Key achievements include developing the 'BaSE Mindset' (Biophilia, Salutogenesis, Eudaimonia) for health architecture and co-editing the book *Contemporary Design Education in Australia*. She also chairs committees for architectural education and serves on international award juries, reflecting her global influence in the field.
