Dr. Rojan Afrouz is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work & Human Services at RMIT University's School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS). Her research focuses on gender-based violence, particularly among migrant/refugee communities, technology-facilitated abuse, and social work education innovations. She is actively involved in curriculum development emphasizing social justice and human rights, currently teaching Contemporary Themes in Professional Practice, Community Work, and Professional Project modules.
Key research interests include violence against women in culturally diverse populations, online abuse dynamics, and adapting social work practices to digital-age challenges. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Equality), 4 (Quality Education), and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
Dr. Afrouz has published extensively on migrant women's experiences of domestic violence, technology-mediated abuse, and LGBTQ+ healthcare access. She supervises PhD/MA students in gender and social change research and serves on Drummond Street Services' Board of Directors.
