Alasdair Henry is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS) at RMIT University. His research focuses on gender studies, policy and administration, political science, and sociology, with a particular emphasis on technology-facilitated sexual violence and image-based abuse. He has contributed to multinational studies on the prevalence and impacts of image-based sexual abuse, examining legal frameworks, platform policies, and prevention strategies. His work explores intersections of digital technology, gendered violence, and public policy, including examinations of sextortion, synthetic imagery, and public transport safety.
Alasdair’s research has informed policy discussions through collaborations with organizations like the Australian eSafety Commissioner. He has led studies on gender equality in STEMM fields and the role of design justice in developing digital tools to combat gender-based violence. His publications span peer-reviewed journals and interdisciplinary reports, addressing topics such as judicial constructions of harm, cross-cultural victimization patterns, and the psychological impacts of online gendered violence. He is active in global academic discourse on technology-facilitated abuse and its societal implications.
