Dr. Rohit Soans, MD serves as Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at Temple University Hospital and holds the academic rank of Associate Professor of Surgery in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. His clinical and scholarly work is centered on metabolic and bariatric surgery, minimally-invasive and robotic approaches to gastrointestinal disorders, and the study of obesity outcomes.
Education & Training: Dr. Soans earned his MD from Pennsylvania State University (State College, PA). He completed a Residency in General Surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital (Columbus, OH), followed by a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Pittsburgh, PA). He further pursued a Research Fellowship in Otolaryngology at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (Chicago, IL).
Research Focus: His clinical interests encompass a broad spectrum of surgical and metabolic care, including:
- Metabolic and bariatric surgery for adult and pediatric populations
- Sarcopenic obesity and its surgical management
- Minimally invasive and robotic gastrointestinal surgery
- Esophageal and anti-reflux procedures
- Hernia surgery
- Long-term outcomes following bariatric surgery
