Roger Osborne is an Associate Professor of English Literature at James Cook University. His research focuses on Australian and British literature through the lenses of book history, print culture, and scholarly editing. He has contributed significantly to the Cambridge Edition of Joseph Conrad's works, co-editing Under Western Eyes (2013) and editing Nostromo (2023). His work on trans-national Australian print culture includes Australian Books and Authors in the American Marketplace (2018), which was shortlisted for multiple awards.

- Chief Investigator for the ARC-funded project 'Read all about it: Digital participation in Australian Newspapers'
- Launched the Joseph Furphy Digital Archive in 2015
Teaching interests include creative/critical thinking, digital narratives, and multi-modal writing. He has held academic roles at James Cook University since 2018, with prior experience at the University of Queensland from 2004–2017.
Key projects include the Australian Newspaper Fiction Database and collaborations on digital scholarly editions. His work bridges traditional textual scholarship with cutting-edge digital methods, emphasizing accessibility and cultural preservation.
