Professor Nicole Moore is a leading scholar in Australian literature, censorship, and cultural Cold War studies, holding a permanent position in English and Media Studies at UNSW Canberra. She has served as Associate Dean for Special Collections (2018–2022) and Visiting Professor of Australian Studies at the University of Tokyo (2022–2023). Her research focuses on Australian literary history, comparative literature, and the intersection of literature with governance and power. Notable works include The Censor's Library (2012), which won the Walter McCrae Russell Award, and her ARC-funded biography of Dorothy Hewett. She edits Studies in Australian Literature and Culture and contributes to several academic journals. Current projects include a history of the Australasian Book Society and a biography of Hewett for Melbourne University Press.
Her research interests span censorship dynamics, transnational literary networks, and feminist literary history. Advising PhD candidates in areas like Cold War poetry and science communication, Moore integrates archival research with contemporary debates. Grants include an ARC Future Fellowship and Discovery Project funding. She collaborates with institutions like the National Archives of Australia and the Humanities Research Centre (ANU).
