Roger Mortimore is a Professor of Public Opinion & Political Analysis at King's College London's Department of Political Economy within the School of Politics & Economics. He also serves as Director of Political Analysis at Ipsos MORI. His research focuses on British elections, public opinion dynamics, voting behavior, electoral systems, and political marketing. Mortimore holds a BA, MA, and PhD from the University of Oxford, with his doctoral work on constituency structure and boundary commissions.
Research Interests: Mortimore’s work examines British elections, public opinion measurement, polling methodology, and the application of survey evidence in political campaigns. He emphasizes understanding electoral registration, constituency boundaries, and the relationship between votes and seats, alongside broader constitutional implications of public opinion.
Recent Publications: Key works include analyses of populism in modern British elections (2021), hope vs. fear appeals in referendums (2023), and post-Brexit public opinion (2018). His contributions span peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes on topics like the Scottish referendum and electoral campaign strategies.
Grants & Projects: Co-investigator on the ESRC-funded World Values Survey project examining polarization in Britain (2020–2024). Collaborations include work on constitutional dynamics, referendum impacts, and electoral behavior.
