Roger McIntyre serves as Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at the University of Toronto and Head of the Mood Disorders Psychopharmacology Unit at University Health Network. He concurrently holds leadership roles as Executive Director of the Brain and Cognition Discovery Foundation and director for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) in Chicago.
His educational background includes a medical degree from Dalhousie University followed by Psychiatry residency training and Fellowship in Psychiatric Pharmacology at the University of Toronto.
Dr. McIntyre's research centers on mood disorders with emphasis on cognitive impairment mechanisms and medical comorbidities like diabetes/obesity. His work explores molecular targets for treating bipolar disorder and major depression while examining workplace functionality impacts, positioning him at the intersection of neuroscience and metabolic health.

He significantly shapes clinical practice through co-chairing the CANMAT Task Force on Comorbidity and contributing to Florida Best Practice Guidelines and CANMAT treatment protocols for mood disorders.
Dr. McIntyre leads the Mood Disorders Psychopharmacology Unit, directing research on psychopharmacological interventions, cognitive effects of metabolic disorders on the brain, and novel treatment approaches for treatment-resistant depression.
