Dr. Roger Kemp is the Associate Dean of Interior Design at RMIT University's School of Architecture and Urban Design. His academic career includes leadership roles such as Program Director of the Bachelor of Interior Design (2013-2017), Higher Degrees Research Coordinator (2018-2020), and founder of the Master of Interior Design program (2019-2022). He is a globally recognized educator with collaborations at institutions like Konkuk University (Seoul), La Salle Singapore, and RMIT Vietnam.
His research explores the intersection of urban spatial practices, material-led design, and interdisciplinary art installations. The 'Making Distance' collaborative practice with Anthony Fryatt has exhibited at venues like ACMI, Mathaf Museum, and Brighton University. Kemp’s work bridges interior design with film, television, and performance, emphasizing spatial narratives and public engagement.
Key awards include the RMIT University HDR Publication Excellence Prize (2014) and recognition for innovative teaching. He actively supervises PhD research in urban interiority, cultural production, and design pedagogy. Kemp’s leadership extends to roles in the Interior Design Educators Association and international design conferences.
